Can't do anything but laugh. I'm really wishing I just let the emmer effer sit where it was sitting! The stock turbo is far under sized, and with that replaced 400hp on stock internals is easily obtained with added fuel, and by replacing the really inefficient stock intercooler. There are pleanty of reason to move away from the ct-26, for instance the number of options on sizing go up as soon as you go garrett. This is as complete as you can buy used engines. People need to stop claiming that the 7M is a engine that is always on the verge of breaking down in a spectacular fashion. Its as simple as that. Oh, and latentsolutions is back up, looks like his webpage expired temporarily.
And that is only this forum. It's really not all that difficult from what I have found also there are wiring diagrams and everything. Even when I pushed the piston down most of the way, the crank still turns freely. The oil pan on the 7m fits in fine, and it doesn't interfear with the steering assembly. The best reason to modify the ct-26 is because you'll be using the stock exhaust manifold and it's an easy bolt on.
And let's not forget age. I just gave you all the info you need. If your oil was low enough and you were doing something to where the motor would be at an incline it could possibly starve the motor. I take the motor apart, but all I did was look at it, and everything just looked harder and harder to rebuild as the days, months, years, went by. Do not expect a brand new factory sealed perfect engine. If i get 5m mounts, is that all that is needed to drop the 7m into my truck? So I was checking around for a motor swap I found a 83 supra and a 82 cressida at a local junkyard.
I would try to find a half cut or an entire donor car. Are you planning on running a aftermarket fuel pump since the demand is going to be greater? I would never be able to undertake what you are doing, but I am enjoying your posts and look forward to your pictures!. Good post joshy, esp on the 2J bit and the oil squirter shit. Bellhousing - from 7mge-w58 Clutch slave - Any supra? Wear and tear parts such as: washers, synchros etc. Tony Fruzza has built one up for his car. I have seen threads like this, but most of them are unorganized and there is info all over the place.
They overlook a perfectly good engine just because the community at large over looks it, and so the circle continues. Other changes are the radiator, fuel lines, exhaust, intercooler lines and mounting the intercooler. Oh and don't even bother with your 3. There was some times while I was doing the swap that tested my temper, but what engine swap doesn't. Another way to help you save big with SupraStore.
Hey Tom, good to see you here. All info here is what I have learned through reading and asking others who have done the swap before. Y'all know this this my first engine build so I am still learning. Just an idea I've been thinking about when I attempt this conversion. Not to many major ones, but ones that must be done to get the engine into a 2wd. This tranny is bad ass and I dont think a 7mgte could break it no matter how hard you ride it. I don't fit in a mk3 unless I crank the seat back 180 degrees, ganster style.
I just never really liked that motor, i bought my supra knowing I would swap the engine out when i had the chance. This is going into a mk2 anyway. Combine the supra parts on the cressida motor and put that in my truck? I called the company that sold my friend the engine swap setup. I sure they had to made the same changes to get those engines to fit. All engines have a 30 day start up warranty on engine internals. Here is how it works.
Bare block, crank, and head. Ive been driving mine for 2 years with no problems and still loving it. If you are good at wiring and reading wiring diagrams its not hard. Stumbled across this thread and wanted to throw in some info for anyone that is looking at doing a 7M swap and comes across this thread. If you shop right you can be in the swap for 1500. Do you wheel your truck? I am the Amazing Turtle! As far as racing your probally looking at about 10mpg if you stay in boost while the 1uzfe might pull 15mpg but when you're racing unless you do endurance you shouldn't have to worry about fuel.
