It's been mechanically freshly restored by a team of Toyota professionals and includes many thousands upon thousands in receipts. Doesn't burn a drop of oil, and looks as fresh as original after 5K of heavy use. No knocks, no rattles, no smoke, no leaks, no issues whatsoever. This is a California truck and was purchased from the original owner in California. Now thats now an option and I doubt I will ever get it back there so I thought I'd pass it on to someone else.
For whatever reason the original owner painted the glove box door in a camo theme. The nickle content of these cast iron steel blocks is so high higher even than most of the best old American muscle cars that often they can be rebuilt without machining the cylinders, requiring only a simple honing. It has had a recent bare metal body work and paint job done, also a kevlar bed liner, It is almost rust free, any rust that couldn't be removed was cut out and new metal welded in,mostly just the front cab mounts and floors. The outside of the 2014 Toyota Tundra also got a big upgrade for the new year. This was a Daily driven nice truck that I started with. The filters and fluids are all new.
The timing chain and cover are new and of course the superior metal chain guides rather than plastic were used. These tasks include: hauling cord-wood, pulling a thirty-foot flatbed trailer loaded with several tons of hay bales, transporting pick-up beds full of gravel, pulling a surface conditioner around hay fields, transporting fencing material and equipment across decidedly hostile terrain, and many other tasks that push the vehicle to its limits. The other is that the stock bench seat is in horrible condition making driving it even more uncomfortable, and I have been unable to find a replacement. The new owner will receive some extra parts for general preventative maintenance. I know I will soon regret it but sometimes you have to do what what you have to do.
I'll help shipping agent load vehicle as much as possible. It is a very practical work truck and at a fraction of the price of most full-size models. Although Toyota provided drivers with the CrewMax cab edition to the 2014 Tundra, there is still not much comfort in the way of seating. A continuously variable transmission is on duty regardless of engine choice. Sold in various markets as the Daihatsu Boon, Daihatsu Sirion, Perodua Myvi and for a time the Subaru Justy, the Toyota Passo is a compact hatchback that slots in size-wise between the Yaris sold in America and the Aygo offered in Europe except the Passo is taller than either.
The knuckles were then refilled with 3 tubes of grease each often neglected because few people realize they're supposed to hold that much since a little bit swipes out onto the outer birfield on every turn which the birfields need for strength as it acts like a hydraulic shock absorber when banging up a tough obstacle. Old Toyotas like this 1983 pickup may not be oozing with character, but I definitely think they have soul. Nevertheless there are 4 spots where the paint has inexplicably chipped off exposing bare metal. Nevertheless this transmission was removed and given a complete professional overhaul and then completely resealed with new shifter bushings. Will store vehicle free of charge up to 3 weeks after auction close.
Original headliner is good and the interior door light still works. I had gotten the Toyota stuck in an area on a ranch I should not have been attempting to drive through. The cab area is small, so it will not be very comfortable for a larger person. Except for some old Dodge military vehicles and old Land Cruisers, the 79-85 4x4 Hilux differentials were not only seriously robust but also unique in that the drop out 3rd members were interchangeable from front to rear. If the vehicle history can be believed, the odometer has been rolled over four times on the original engine, which means it has well over 400,000 miles on it. The seller claims the truck is in perfect mechanical condition and it was kept in the dry Southwestern climate for the majority of its life. The beauty of the Powertrax automatic locker is that on the street you don't know they're there except maybe once a month they will reset themselves going around a slow turn but off road they work 100% of the time engaging both wheels when you need it.
Yet, the Toyota pick-up doesn't seem to mind as it continues to deliver break-down free service as I thoughtlessly force tasks upon it for which it was not designed. The rear driver's side tire was rear-ended so the axle appears a bit shifted on the leaf spring. The bed looks unused since restoration, and the absence of small, nearly impossible-to-remove dents points to a relatively easy pre-refurb life. I had it sandblasted and epoxy primed, 99% of the body work has been completed, comes with nice tailgate. New exhaust, Rhino lined bed, sliding rear window, custom Grant steering wheel, Thorley headers smog legal of course etc etc. This is the only way to know for sure the actual mileage. Gas mileage still between 17 to 20.
Everything is solid and working as designed. Maybe a thick roll of foam rubber or canvas would do the trick. Models like the Crown sedan, Noah minivan and this, the new Passo hatchback. The factory bottle jack and tools to lower spare are behind the seat. If the vehicle history can be believed, the odometer has been rolled over four times on the original engine, which means it has well over 400,000 miles on it.
